This model was offered for around a year and I don’t even see it any of my Fender catalogs, although catalogs do show the Musicmaster Bass which was produced in greater numbers. These were the shortest run of all the Vista series, most of which were produced for years. One of the cool things about this guitar is the flamed maple neck which wasn’t spec for this model but is a welcomed coincidence. The neck also features a It plays with ease and the tone is very useable. I’ve always been a fan of the Vista series as far as bang for the buck and this one’s no exception.

About Guitars Buying a new guitar is a considerable investment for most of us. An instrument is all about inspiration. You are the musician and the guitar is the tool you use to express your feelings and music. This has nothing to do with what models you choose or how much they cost. Some basic knowledge about the different wood types, neck and body profiles, pickups etc will help you in making the best choice. However, over the last decade or so, the MIMs has gotten a considerable face lift and the overall quality is very high.
In fact, the reason why they are cheaper, ha sless to do with quality but rather lower labour costs, cheaper type of laquer and apply methods etc. Japanese Fenders are considered to be above the Mexicans and perhaps even just as good as the US.
Go to menu top I never heard anything better than a Fender if we’re talking about the big manufacturers. Later on, in the Guitar section, I’ll also talk about Standel and EchoSonic , but they’re produced in such small numbers that it’s fair to say they’ll only have historic interest to the most of us So As long as you get a tube Fender you’ll probably be on the right track, because they all sound pretty good. It doesn’t have to be vintage at all, but they do look pretty cool. Actually I started out playing a vintage Vox AC 30 and it wasn’t bad at all.
The sound was very ‘tube’ and that’s what you’re looking for, but Fender is still the better choice for Rockabilly.

Here are the ones worth the trip. But when that torment is over, take them to a different kind of theme park, one you’ll both enjoy: You’ll see how baseball gloves are made. Or how they print the posters for your favorite concert. Or how a guy at Harley-Davidson takes every bike up to 77 mph on what looks a lot like an automotive treadmill. Sometimes you’ll even get candy.

The body is made of highly flamed maple, absolutely gorgeous. And most of all, there is a detail we have never encountered on a Country Club: The sound post connects top and back, giving the guitar a greater rigidity, to avoid feedback problems when played really loud.
SERIAL NUMBERS were stamped on the back vibrato cover plate on early ’50s Stratocaster® guitars, and on the bridge plate between the pickup and the saddles on some Telecaster® guitars.

You may compare these with your own speakers to determine what you have. Speakers are like ice cream; we all have our favorite taste. Some like strawberry while others like chocolate. What someone finds harsh can be beautiful sparkle to others. Speakers can have different frequency response depending on materials and construction design, like cone shape, magnet weight and coil size.
New speakers will therefore sound different from vintage speakers. There are of course exceptions to our preference of American speakers.

Lawndale CA Fender’s methods of using serial numbers on steel guitars varied constantly; there is no pattern and there have even been repeated numbers used. The model is a “Custom” – they were reportedly offered from , although the bulk of them were sold between , when the Stringmaster was introduced. Usually the best way to get a rough date on these is by the presence or lack thereof of plates or decals on the body.
As this is apparenly a refinish all bets are off.

Don’t let anyone try to convince you that there is a Strat Plus, they just did not exist. It was owned by a former Fender employee who recently passed away. The strings, I am certain, were the original from 87, as they were rusty and hard to pull through the nut. I have owned ‘s of Strat Plus’, as well as helping s of people to identify their guitars. I also saw where Shell Pink was listed as an available color from Fender in color code 56 but not in any of the Strat Plus brochures. This is the oldest Strat Plus I have come across yet, as it came off the assembly-line July 27th, !
Scroll up to see John’s Custom Shop work log. The backs of the pickups do not even have any stickers with the part or patent numbers. Instead they are hand scribed most likely done by Jeff Lace when in high school. The numbers on the pickups indicate the order which they were manufactured! This is exactly what the amp is made for, being played unmiked in in a gospel band in a seat church every Sunday. Warning nr 1 Weight. Warning nr 2 Volume and clean headroom. In a 50 year old vintage amp the condition of the speakers varies a lot. Beware of the weight, though. The plate voltage will increase a little when two of the tubes are removed.
Ideally you should have the amp re-biased to not run the two remaining tubes too hard. But the delivered current is doubled with four tubes. Hence, the power is also doubled. This mod is a must-know survival trick for all Twin owners. These tubes have different frequency responses than 12AX7, particurlarly when distorting. People describe these tubes to have less harsh and buzzy distortion. This mod does not alter the tone significantly when amp is played clean or when only the power amp section distorts.

Instruments made between and carry MN prefix serial numbers, with the M designating Mexico and the N designating the s. The numbers for each year typically overlap, as there is always a transitional period between successive years and as necks that are made and serial numbered late in any given year are used on instruments assembled in the early months of the following year. Only the seven-digit suffixes were actually entered into the database.
These serial numbers did not identify the country of origin in the body of the number. This new numbering scheme was short-lived and was replaced only a few months later by an improved scheme that identifies an instrument’s country of origin and year of manufacture in the body of the serial number. This new scheme uses the letters MX as a prefix to designate an instrument made in Mexico, followed by an eight-digit number.
The first two digits of the number identify the year of manufacture, 10 for , 11 for , etc.
